We care for our granddaughter, Kaitlyn, who recently turned 13. She is the joy of our life and keeps us on our toes.

Ron and I married after college (UNC and Meredith) and have enjoyed the years together since Sadie Hawkins at MPHS! We spent 6 years moving around while Ron was a Navy pilot. Then, we moved to Atlanta where he got an MBA from Emory and I got a Masters in Elemantary Ed. from Mercer. Ron is a CPA and headed an investment company for 31 years, and I taught at Westminster schools. We enjoy traveling and spending time between Atlanta and Highlands, NC, as well as having fun with our two children, their spouses, and four grandchildren in Georgia and Texas. Wow, where does time go?  Let's see - graduated Lees-McRae College, Dental Assisting CPCC, worked at UNC-CH Dental School Where I met my husband of 46 years, taught Dental Assisting at CPCC, time out to raise a family of two children (Leigh Long Kugler and J.P. Long), 15 years working with a group dental practice.  I worked with my husband in his insurance company and now I have retired and am keeping my 2 grandchildren, ages 4 and 3, several days a week.  Besides living in Durham for 6 years while my husband, Bob, worked at UNC-CH in the financial aid department, Charlotte has been my home.  I've had the opportunity to travel to Europe, Asia, South America and Hawaii with my husband through his work.  A second home in the mountains is our family's retreat.

50 years! Where has the time gone? After graduation, I was off to UNC-G, majored in Elementary Ed., began teaching in Jamestown, NC. After 4 years I met the love of my life, Joe Perkins, and we married in 1972. We moved to Elon, where I taught at the Burlington Day School until our daughter, Alison, was born in 1977. Joe's company transferred us to Cary in 1978, when it was a small town of about 10,000. Daughter Jennifer was born in 1980. I was a stay at home mom for ten years. In 1987 I went back to elementary school, this time as a kindergarten teacher assistant. After 21 years I retired in June of 2008. Joe followed in December of that year. Jennifer was married to Troy in 2006 and Alison married Jeremy in 2010. In December 2012, Jennifer presented us with our grandson, Elliot, the joy of our lives. A few weeks into January 2013 we were devestated to learn that Alison had contracted the worst kind of brain cancer, glioblastoma malforme stage 4. She fought valiantly for 11 months with Jeremy and her family by her side, but lost her battle a few days before Christmas. We miss her everyday, but we are a family of faith and we have hope that one day we will see her again in heaven.
Joe and I just celebrated our 42nd anniversary. Our days are spent playing with our grandson, taking trips to the beach and the mountains always stopping at junk stores along the way, volunteering at our church and with the Kairos ministry, Boy Scouts (Joe), Bible studies, and bridge (me). Before we're too old to enjoy it we'd like to take a trip to England, Scotland and Ireland.
I'm looking forward to catching up with friends at the reunion. Many thanks to all of you who have worked so hard to put this together.

It seems that I have been given this space to inform you of all the brilliant baubles that have bejeweled my life since high school graduation – the joys, the triumphs, the successes, and the achievements (of which I am indeed fortunate there have been a few). The path I trod, up to a point, was rather routine if not wholly predictable: college, the Navy, an aborted foray into law school (where, with apologies to those of you who became lawyers, I felt like the victim rather than the victor), love, marriage, graduate school, children, career – as a teacher, principal, and perpetual student among students, learning as much from them as they did from me. I could give you a glowing account of all my accomplishments, but who wants it? who needs it? especially without any mention of the failures, the setbacks, the pain, and the grief that have inevitably befallen me along the way – no more, I suspect, than all of us. Aren’t those failures what have made us strong, what have motivated us to strive even harder, and what have ultimately molded us into who and what we are? This is the real core, the heart, the nitty-gritty of our journey, but often the side of the saga that goes unspoken, unrevealed. We would not appreciate the sweetness of victory had we not tasted the bitterness of defeat; yet, we fear exposure, and we yearn for time to take away the sting.
Time… TIME… it shouts with a whisper, the most precious commodity that we have, yet it slips inexorably through our fingers, almost unnoticed, until it is gone, like sand suddenly slipping through a sieve… like a river, flowing by so silently that we hardly discern its movement until those inescapable moments of turmoil and turbulence and, yes, even triumph, which stamp themselves on us indelibly.
Imagine a tangled web, stretching from point to point in a seemingly random fashion – new mixed with old, strange with familiar. Remember your first flirtation – an infatuation so mysterious, so innervating, so exhilarating, that it seemed like heaven on earth, until the ultimate and inevitable heartbreak. Consider what has changed you – shaped your character, fashioned your attitude, forged your outlook on life. Hark back to those seminal moments, those turning points that gave you the opportunity for new explorations, new experiences, new prospects, new growth – in new and utterly unforeseen directions. Have you ever ended up in a totally unexpected place, a place where, both literally and metaphorically, you never imagined in your wildest dreams you would find yourself? A new panorama emerges into view; opportunity knocks! Here we are, and maybe it’s where we should have been all along.
Best wishes at this milestone time of our lives!

Let's see - in '64 it was on to Washington and Lee for a major in English, way too much bourbon, and in retrospect, not enough serious consideration of the education that I had signed up for. I still have recurring dreams (literally) of being back in Lexington for a second time to do it right. Upon graduation in '68 my Dad correctly commented that I had made it through W&L relatively unscathed by higher education. In retrospect it was a difficult time for me - I was growing up and for me that was hard, but I still value the liberal education that snuck into my life while I was in Lexington. After graduation I worked for the summer at the Sugar a Creek Sewage Treatment Plant (the "Doo Doo Dump" to all guys who regularly parked there)' and in the fall left for Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, ostensibly to become an Episcopal priest like my brother and my Dad. Halfway through it became clear to me that my plan was not sound, largely because I didn't like going to church, and in early '69 I exited VTS (growing up some more). My first full time job, in the urban renewal agency in Alexandria, paid $6310 a year. I met my wife of 40 years, Robin, on a blind date in 1971, we were married in 1973, and in short order our family included 3 boys. I retired in 2008 after 40 years in private market land development and construction, Robin retired in 2010 after 30 years as an elementary school counselor. Two of our sons are in Philadelphia and one is in Brooklyn, so we're veteran road warriors on I-95 North. We are busy volunteers in Alexandria (hospice and Scouts for me, hospice, parent ed, and conflict resolution education for Robin), but we stay on a budget, save money and travel regularly. Hope to make the reunion if only to apologize to Walter Wolfe for ripping the pocket off his pink Gant shirt the day we had a small misunderstanding on the patio is SC! Was this too much?

Since graduating from Myers Park in 1964, I have many great life experiences. I went on to attend Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC. After college I married Leland Loose whom we have a wonderful son named Michael, who is 46. Our marriage eventually ended in divorce and I have now been married for 25 years to a wonderful man named Tom. I retired in 2011 from Bank of America after 14 great years. I am thoroughly enjoying retirement. It gives me time to travel, cook, garden and take classes. Life is very good.

My family moved to Charlotte when I was a junior in high school, so I only went to Myers Park for two years before leaving for college. However,I still return to Charlotte to visit family, so I am looking forward to renewing Charlotte connections.
My only possible claim to fame is that I am probably the oldest one in our class to attend law school. After all three of my daughters left home, I went through my own divorce, and it became abundantly clear that it would be more fun to sit on the "other" side of the desk. I finished law school at age 55 and have been practicing family law in Columbia, SC, since 2001. The job suits me perfectly - sex, lies, and videotapes - as I was always a nosey little girl. It is very rewarding to help people through a very difficult time in their lives.
I travel as often as possible to Mt. Pleasant, High Point, and Birmingham to see my five grandchildren and am active in my church. I have been a runner off and on for over 30 years and still occasionally participate in a 5-mile race; the completion thins out each year!

It’s good to hear from everyone…Life is good!
My wife Cathy and I live in the Matthews area and have 2 kids, 2 grandchildren and a big Yellow Lab.
After graduation and 4 years in the Air Force I came back to Charlotte and haven’t found a reason to leave. I went to CPCC and started working for Duke Energy(Power) and have been there 43 years now. Every day on my commute to downtown and I pass the houses of Jenny Fallis, Beverly Love, Diane Hord, Ray and Linda Baker and Susan Finch(RIP). Memories? Oh yes!
Randy Sills and I have kept in touch over the years. We occasionally get together for BBQ and conversation of current or past events and how Charlotte has changed. Our conversation usually starts with “Who died”? It goes with the age.
Note: In 2008, I lost my running mate, Johnny Bristow. Johnny and I met in the summer when we were 13 and spent the next 50 years enjoying life. In 2002, we went to Spain together and remarked that we would have made Miss Akers proud with our knowledge of Spanish. Johnny would have loved to be here with you.

<<-- I still closely resemble this photo, except in the  face.  And the fact that I lost all my hair.  And I have some broken front teeth (I lost a confrontation with an SUV while riding a bicycle two years  ago).  But I weigh the same as I did in college, except that the weight is now distributed rather  differently.
Obligatory resume facts: University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) (AB history 1968, JD 1973).  Law clerk US District Court, Raleigh (1973-74).  Assistant district attorney (Charlotte 1975-1980).  University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (associate professor1980-84).  Private law practice (insurance defense and general litigation, 1984-96 in Charlotte – my senior partner was Bill Underwood – Ann and David’s older brother). Retired (1996 to present).
The gaps: These are the parts I like best. After undergraduate school, facing the draft post TET, post Cronkite’s infamous announcement that victory was off the table, post Johnson’s decision not to run for another term, and during a presidential campaign where neither side was talking about victory, I  somehow managed to join an army reserve hospital unit headquartered in Durham and Fort Bragg.  Moreover, I received the medical lab technician training I needed in order to work my way through law school. A good deal for me, not much benefit to the army.  In 1974, an opportunity presented itself resulting in a year long adventure through Asia, starting in Tokyo and ending in Athens. In 1987, I ended 41 years of bachelorhood, when Shelley Pendleton of Duluth, MN consented to become my wife.  After retiring in 1996, she and I traveled for two years, starting in Europe, then Asia, and finally a long road trip through the western states and provinces of North America.  After  that, we began a semiannual (that means twice a year) hiking retreat to Grand Canyon.  In short, it has been a grand life during which I have enjoyed a great deal of richly undeserved good luck!

I find it hard to believe that it has been almost 50 years since graduation day in 1964. Where have the years gone? I have an Associate degree in Liberal Arts from Central Piedmont Community College and BS in Home Economics Education from East Carolina University. I lived in Fort Mill, for 34 years but moved to Myrtle Beach 3 years ago. Over the years, I have worked as a Home Economist, Food Broker, Professional Photographer and Videographer. I am married to Brian Donald Cole. We dated in High School and will celebrate our 45 wedding anniversary in September. We have two sons,a daughter and two grandchildren. Both grandchildren share the same birth date only 4 years apart. We live at Seagate Village which was the military housing for Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. We live one mile from the ocean and enjoy walking on the beach as often as the weather permits. I enjoy taking photographs of birds, sealife and southern landscapes. I would love to hear from all of my old friends at Myers Park. Please email me anytime.

Am I late again?! After graduation, on to The Citadel. Did we have guidance counselors at MPHS? Top 1% in math on SAT's (ok, or close), A's in math classes (close again), and made one D. Majored in Biology (yes, the one D) - guess I showed "them". Similar to Rick Indurfurth's comment about finishing 1st in his swim across the Potomac, I graduated 2nd in the biology department (the other guy went on to run an ice house in Florida). Air Force for dozen years: Titan missiles, Navigator, Vietnam, Hahn AB Germany, final yrs in Anchorage, AK where I then stayed 18 yrs. MBA at U of AK, self-employed doing taxes and accounting. Met wife Martha in 1974 (where she was teacher/counselor for DOD in Okinawa. After 25 yrs, we decided to get married - on horseback in the Okavango Delta of Botswana. Had done few earlier horse treks in Africa (as well as Australia, Ireland, France, Ireland), and thought this was a beautiful and unique place! In 1993 we were in Rwanda on eco tour to see the Mountain Gorillas, but after one incredible day amongst them, we got caught up in the civil war and had to hire a jeep full of machine gun toting mercenaries to help get us back to Hotel des Diplomates in Kigali (yes, same hotel as in the movie "Hotel Rwanda") - we got out before the real trouble, but that is another story. Moved to SOUTHERN Oregon in 2000, where we rescued donkeys for ten yrs - now have two donkey silhouettes I move around the pasture every few wks for exercise. Much less work I assure you. We have two horses, two dogs, and a barn cat. Have done volunteer tax preparing for 14 yrs. Golf when time (shot my first round in 70's at Bandon Dunes in '02, and hole in one '13)... Love our home, and Oregon is beautiful. Sorry I missed this reunion. Will make the next one I hope! Great seeing all those pictures, and seeing you beautiful classmates. FIFTY YEARS. Wonderful times and good memories. Y'all take care.

Very briefly -
Graduated from Ga. Tech w/ degree in industrial engineering, followed by a year in grad school in Stuttgart, Germany, followed by 3 years in the Navy, followed by law school at UNC-CH (finally got to see a real college campus!). Met my wife Elizabeth in Chapel Hill, and we were married in 1974. Practiced law in Charlotte until 2001, when I went to work for a non-profit land conservation organization. They closed their Charlotte office in 2012, so I went back into law practice until April 2014, when I went to work (part-time) for a local land trust, The Catawba Lands Conservancy. Along the way, earned a masters in English from UNC-C, and am now teaching in the English Dept at UNC-C (also part-time). Elizabeth and I have two daughters, one of whom lives in Charlotte and has two children. The other is a professional photographer living in Aspen, Colorado with her boyfriend. We get to see her regularly because she comes to North Carolina for photo assignments for "Our State" magazine - if you get the magazine, check it out for photos by Emily Chaplin.   Really enjoyed seeing everyone today at the reunion lunch!

Retired in 2006 as Vice President for Human Resources from The Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, GA. While in Savannah, I volunteered with the Historic Savannah Foundation and the Ossabaw Island Foundation, serving as President of both organizations. Prior to our 15 years in Savannah, I served for 10 years as the Director of the Oklahoma Main Street Program, a statewide economic development/preservation program which allowed me to travel throughout the state of Oklahoma working with local boards and committees. Most importantly, I met and married my husband, Harley while in Oklahoma.
After graduating in 1983 from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a degree in Historic Preservation, I moved to Texas as the Main Street Manager for Georgetown, Texas.
Three years ago, we downsized and moved to Shawnee, OK (Harley's home state) where he is the Vice President for Operations at St. Gregory's University (Catholic). We look forward to traveling more after his retirement.
In the meantime, I spend my time making art and volunteering for Preservation Oklahoma (statewide education and advocacy), at the Mabee-Gerrer Museum, Shawnee Chamber and as a member of Shawnee Planning Commission.

After High School, married David Smith (class of '65), had 4 kids, bam, bam, bam, bam.  Kept me pretty busy for quite a while!!  Did attend CPCC for about 3 years, studying music and playing in their Early Music Consort for 8 years.  Raising kids, raising kids, being a Trekker and taking time out for Conventions and writing a Star Trek Novel.  Writing, writing, writing, (still raising kids).  Then as life goes, kids raised, divorced, moved to Virginia for several years, met current hubby Stephen Talley on a dating site.  About two years of traveling back and forth from VA to WA state to see each other concluded with me driving my little Mazda Miata convertible all the way across country by myself - quite an adventure!  Lived in Spokane for 12 years, and in the meantime, formed a musical duo with Stephen called SOUND TRAVEL (www.soundtravelmusic.com - toot, toot), writing and performing our original instrumental music on many guitars (Stephen) and Korg synthesizer (me).  Playing music, playing music, then started making driftwood art (www.dreamscapesnatureart.com - toot); making art, making art, playing music.  Having cancer, beating cancer!  THEN decided to move back to Charlotte to be near my Mom, who is 93 this year, and all my kids and grandkids (10), who are on the East coast.  Coming Home.  I moved here in June and am living in an apartment with my cat, Patti (awaiting hubby to arrive around Christmas, after he retires from his 30-year+ job in Spokane).  Being with Family, Being with Family, Being with Family.  Missing Stephen!  I've started a proofreading business, CCR Writing Services (no website to toot yet), and am currently proofing and editing a manuscript about witches and warlocks written by a young local college student.  Fun!  And that's My Life So Far!

Graduated from Duke in '68. Three years in the Army, including one in Vietnam. Married my college sweetheart, Karen, right after returning from overseas and was fortunate to spend my remaining army year in Monterey, CA. After that, I knew where I wanted to settle. Back to the East Coast for MBA at Wharton, then joined Clorox in marketing at their HQ in San Francisco Bay Area, where we remain to this day. Involved in introducing a number of consumer products including Soft Scrub, Tilex and KC Masterpiece, but the major event in my career was being the founding president of Brita USA and introducing the Brita Water Filter to American consumers. It was a very difficult first few years, but eventually quite a success, with Brita in 1 of every 7 US households (if yours was one of those, thank you very much). Karen and I retired the same day in 2001, she after a career in computer programming and me after a dozen years running Brita. Retirement has been an unexpected joy, full of travel, hiking, reading, family time and community service. At this point my passions are skiing, minority education and progressive politics and causes. I was a delegate for John Kerry at the 2004 convention in Boston and had the great opportunity to be at the 2012 convention and see just what a fine city Charlotte grew up to be. We have two sons, both Duke alums. One is married with a young daughter, a lot of fun for us after raising two boys.

Let’s go back to the summer of 1963. My nomadic family had just moved to the big city of Charlotte in time for me to enroll at Myers Park High School for my senior year. MP was the third high school I attended after a public school career that included stops at two different junior highs and three elementary schools. MP felt more like a college campus because every other school I attended only had one building. My main interests were art, writing and sports - in that order. So, of course, I spent a lot of time with the late Mr. (Dean) Barber, the art teacher, and writing stories for the school newspaper as sports editor. Marcia Weinstein was the editor-in-chief. After graduation I headed for art school at East Carolina, and in typical fashion, I wound up transferring to UNC Chapel Hill to complete a degree in Art History. My job prospects were slim thanks to the Vietnam War and a low draft number (4, I think) so I joined the Army Reserve, and, for the next six years, helped insure that North Carolina was safe from invasion by the VC. I got a job as sports information director at Virginia Military Institute and then Rutgers University before becoming national publicity director for the professional World Football League, just before it went bankrupt, putting a lot of good football players and me out of work. After interviewing unsuccessfully for jobs with new NFL franchises in Tampa Bay and Seattle, I auditioned for on-air TV sportscaster jobs in Washington, DC, but had no luck there, either. But I did get a job at the NBC-owned TV station in Washington as a news writer. One of the shows I worked on was produced by Salwa Khan, the most exotic and interesting woman I had ever met. Long story short, we’ve been together for 34 years. I went on to become an investigative and documentary producer and spent a career working for - NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, BBC and CNN. I helped start the long running America’s Most Wanted TV show. I was one of the original producers of PrimeTIME Live on ABC. And for the past two decades plus, we have been living in the hill country of Texas, just a short drive from Austin. My daughter (from a previous marriage) and her family live six hours away in Louisiana, and our son lives in Memphis. Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend the reunion, but I hope to connect with many of you in the online universe at some point.

Looking forward to catching up with everyone in October…. Fifty years…amazing! Here goes…After 2 years at Converse, I transferred to UNC-CH and graduated with a Math Ed. Major. Surprisingly, I loved teaching high school math so I did that in several counties for a total of about ten years. Somewhere during that time, I also coached the boys’ and the girls’ tennis teams. I left teaching for about 12 years to work in NC State Government, monitoring federal grants. In 1986, I returned to university to get my Masters in Ed Administration. During my last 17 years of working, I was a math/science curriculum director for several school systems.
In 1975 I married Charlie Vaughan of Woodland NC, an attorney. We have two sons: eldest son Charles is married and living in Wellington, New Zealand, an attorney working for the NZ government assisting NZ businesses in global markets and younger son Matt is married with one child and living in Raleigh, working as a financial estate planner.
Over the years, Charlie and I have been involved with historic restoration, a 1790 house in Woodland NC and a 1820 house near Littleton NC (near Lake Gaston) where we currently live with our two standard poodles who have the run of the farm.
I have had many opportunities to travel many places overseas, but often with my mother returning to the country of my birth, South Africa, where she visited with her 11 siblings and I visited with my 52 first cousins and their families.
I retired about 3 years ago and love my unstructured days… My newest hobby is painting portraits and other subjects

50 years! Wow! After one year at Randolph-Macon, two years at SMU, and a wedding, I finally graduated from the University of Texas . . . Hook 'em! My ex-husband was drafted in 1969 and we ended up living in Germany for three years after OCS - somehow he managed to escape Viet Nam! We returned to Austin in 1972 and raised two beautiful children who have since blessed us with five incredible grandchildren - 4 boys and an adorable one-year old girl. I've been single since 1995 and have loved every minute of it! I have worked for the last 20 years as the only employee of an attorney who was Special Counsel to LBJ in the White House - remember that guy who became President on an airplane when we were Seniors? Can you believe I work for his attorney? Anyway, it has been a real adventure and I've had the opportunity to meet people I never dreamed I would come into contact with! My true passion is travel and there aren't very many places in the world I haven't been . . . but I'm not through yet! Can't wait to see everybody in Charlotte!

After graduating from MPHS, I was recruited by a scout to join the Marine Corps boxing team.  Additionally, I played cornet in the Camp Lejeune band for a short time prior to volunteering for a tour in VietNam as a rifleman - Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment. My service resulted in some health issues from Agent Orange, but am working through them with the VA.  My first marriage brought a lovely daughter, whose husband is career Army. They live in Gig Harbor, Washington with their 2 daughters.  My current wife, SallyAnne (MPHS 1970) and I have been married 23 years, and we are now enjoying retirement.

After graduating from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, I joined Eastern Airlines as a flight attendant in New York City. In 1968 I married the love of my life, Herb Zimmerman, and we'll celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary next April. After two more wonderful years in NYC we moved to Lancaster, PA (my husband's hometown) to start our family. Our son and his beautiful wife live in Roswell, GA and our beautiful daughter and her hubby live right there in the Queen City. Each "branch" has given us two precious grandchildren, a girl (12 years old) and a boy (10) in Charlotte, and another girl (8) and boy (5) in Roswell (plus our only granddog). They keep us very active and, hopefully, young.
After living in Lancaster for 42 years, in 2013 we moved to my other love, the lowcountry of South Carolina and the Belfair Plantation in Bluffton, where we enjoy meeting many new folks and playing a lot of golf on its two challenging courses. I'm sure our classmates never thought of me as being even remotely athletic, but I carry a 15 handicap and its become another love of mine. I used to play a pretty decent game of tennis, too, So there!
My husband and I have been very fortunate to have travelled extensively in the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, Australia and the South Pacific, as well as bits of South America. We've visited in 30+ countries and will have just returned from two weeks in Germany for my 50th Reunion in October.
I'm really looking forward to seeing all y'all after ALL these many years.

I can't believe it's been 50 years since our MPHS days. We were in college before the days of the computer science majors, so I was a math major at Duke. Then it was on to an information technology career at 2 companies, first at J. P. Stevens (textiles) and Duke Energy. I lived in Charlotte, Gastonia, and Greenville, SC, but returned home and now live in the house my parents built when I was 7 years old. I retired 10 years ago. Besides being with wonderful friends, I spend most of my time when in Charlotte playing duplicate bridge and volunteering for our local bridge association and other groups. I also travel a lot, both in the US and every couple of years in Europe. Can't wait to see everyone in October.

Wow…50 years! Where have they gone? I have to say that the years since MPHS have been happy ones. After MPHS I went to UNCG as several others, graduated and spent one year in Richmond, VA, before moving to Hot-lanta which was a great move for me. I got my MEd there at Georgia State, taught school, and started traveling, ending up spending a year in Germany which was great fun. After that year my now husband came over and we drove for 6 weeks through France, Portugal , and Spain, deciding that if we could make it together for that trip we might as well get married. Well, 40 years later we’re still happily married and still traveling as much as we can. My husband Dick retired this May and I’m one real estate closing away from retiring myself. We’re excited as these changes make us free to travel the world which we intend to do. We’ve had fun living in several cities in the SE through the years, Atlanta, Winston Salem, Miami, New Orleans and now Raleigh. I’ve taught school, designed children’s clothing, going to the markets in NYC, enjoyed selling home decorating projects, and then real estate for 20 years. We have been blessed with three great kids, two of whom live within a few minutes of us in Raleigh (our daughter is actually married to our son’s best friend!) and the third in Cullowhee, NC. This MPHS reunion has been great for me to reconnect with friends that I haven’t seen since graduation. Many, many thanks to the organizers…it’s a gift to us all.

In 1964, I departed Charlotte for Wofford College where I spent three unproductive years until I heard John Wayne calling my name. I enlisted in the Army and volunteered Airborne/Infantry. The 90 day delayed enlistment worked for me so I could be the head life guard at Charlotte Country Club and have at least one more good fling dating Cheryl Brittain. At Basic Training I met very close friend Clay Kimball and he explained why I needed to be a Green Beret and go to Vietnam; so I did.
Oh yeah, I managed to marry Cheryl six months prior to my Vietnam Tour and we survived very luckily. We have now been married 45 years and have two children. Brittain, our daughter, has two children, William 10 and Caroline 8. She has just married Charlie Pinckney. Graeme, our son is a banker; he married Staci Hartsook. They have two children, Ava 7 and Cord 3.  After Vietnam I returned to Wofford and made up for lost time and direction. C&S Bank of Augusta Georgia was my first big boy job; they transferred me to Atlanta. After several other career adventures I ended up a Commercial Mortgage Banker in Tampa, FL. Boy was that lucky. Sold my company to GMAC Commercial Mortgage in 2001, and was miserable with them until 2006. Currently, Cheryl and I live happily in Longboat Key where we keep the boat in the back yard and walk to a great beach for beautiful sunsets. I like to swim and boat, Cheryl is the ‘enegizer bunny’ volunteer who also likes to knit. We play Bridge together and do lots of grand-parenting. I am still working as a one man ‘RE Gladiator’. We are looking forward to catching up with old friends!

Since graduating Myers Park, my life experiences have exceeded my imaginations. My parents moved to Dallas TX and I went to Montreat College. In my visits to TX I met the man I married. We lived in several places before we settled in Scottsdale AZ and had our family of 3 sons and 2 daughters, now 5 grandchildren and 2 step-granddaughters.
Since Jr High the writings of C.S. lewis have impacted my thinking.  Therefore, when I had an opportunity to become involved with the C.S. Lewis Foundation it was a natural. I started off as a volunteer and become a conference coordinator, ultimately serving as the resident Warden of Lewis's home in Oxford U.K. This was a particularly timely experience for me as my long term marriage was dissolved.  After my work with the Foundation ended in 2010 I again settled in Scottsdale.
Hope to attend the reunion and reacquaint with many from our class.

Went to Chapel Hill (roomed with Gary Snook) where I successfully crammed four years of undergraduate study into five, finishing with a BS (appropriate) in Business. Worked in Charlotte for ten years-first sold insurance and then started my own investment firm which I later sold to Interstate Securities. In Charlotte I was active in politics, youth baseball/softball, was a member of the first class of Leadership Charlotte, and was on the board of Charlotte Summer Pops and was Chairman of Open House, a drug rehabilitation facility. Moved to Boston to work for Putnam Investments, running a joint venture and traveling the US and a few other countries, as well. Moved to New York with Morgan Stanley and eventually became the Director of the Financial Institution Group, again, traveling a lot. My office was on the 47th floor of Two World Trade, but I relocated a few months before 9/11. Retired in 2004.
I married Muffin Dalton after college and we had two children who now have five children of their own. We divorced and I later I married Melinda Vause, from Columbia, SC. Mel and I now live in Cherry Grove Beach. We share four children and nine grandchildren. We enjoy the beach life and pace, and each other, and we feel truly blessed to be living this wonderful life. We have a few rental properties that keep us busy, I enjoy golf and I also umpire high school baseball.
After all these years, I have finally figured out what true success is: happiness—and I have it!

Hello Mustangs! Long time and hard to believe. Lots of water under the dam. I have stayed really busy since 1964. Attended Salem College and then transferred to UNC-CH for BS. Landed a fantastic sorority (KKG) scholarship and received MEd in Rehabilitation Counseling after a couple of years working with disabled adults.  Moved to Elizabeth City, NC with husband (Bob) in 1972 and taught in the local public schools, at Chowan University , and at the College of The Albemarle. Loved my job(s) so much I successfully pursued the doctorate at Virginia Tech (EdD). This ultimately led to my appointment as Director of the Exceptional Children and Support Services
for the Elizabeth City/Pasquotank Public School System for 17 years, retiring in 2004.  Sometime during that period (1968), married “Dookie Dude” (PhD ’72...only acceptable in that he also attended UNC) and had 2 beautiful daughters who’ve blessed us with 3 beautiful granddaughters and one grandson. Spending “spare” time either playing bridge, gardening, reading, painting furniture when not traveling (keep a suitcase by the door and will travel almost anywhere at any time). Traveled all over the world but still enjoy coming home and going to our cottage at Kitty Hawk in the OBX. Looking forward to our 50th!

Went on to ECU where I graduated in 1968. Spent two fabulous summers on coastal Maine working as a waiter after my junior and senior years. Still go back practically every summer. Joined the army in September, 1968. Went to OCS at Fort Benning where I ran into Walter Wolfe (another '64 Mustang) who was several classes ahead of me at OCS. Also ran into Bobby Boyd ('63 Mustang) who had graduated from OCS and was a tact officer. Served as a mechanized infantry platoon leader in Germany as a second lieutenant and then went on to Vietnam as a first lieutenant, serving as an infantry platoon leader in the 101st Airborne (who would have thought?). Discharged in 1971, returned to Charlotte before moving to Chapel Hill a year later where I lived with Milo Hoffman ('64 Mustang), who talked me into applying for MBA school, which, to my surprise, accepted me. Enrolled in 1973 and ran into Walter Wolfe again, who was a year ahead of me. Jim Uhl ('65 Mustang) and Trip Maffet ('67 (?) Mustang) were in my class. Also saw and renewed friendship with Ken Cannaday ('64 Mustang) who was a top law student just finishing his degree (again - who would have thought?)  Moved back to Charlotte after graduating and ran into, yes you guessed it - Walter Wolfe, on the track at Myers Park. I finally passed him and haven't seen him since! Ran into Jennie Fallis, Geoffrey Schott, and Ellen Trice (all three '64 Mustangs). All three were still way ahead of me in both the looks and the brains departments. Moved to Greensboro in January 1979, married in August, 1979 and divorced 1983. Married again in 1985, divorced again in 1995. I guess I should have married a Mustang! Daughter by my first marriage and son by second. Three granddaughters in Baton Rouge and oh yes I have pictures if you would like to see them. Continued to run almost every day until I turned 65, ran 6 marathons and countless 5k's and 10k's and yes I have pictures if you would like to see them. Took up swimming and try to swim at least 5 times a week. Still live in Greensboro. I finally can lay claim to something that I doubt any other '64 Mustang can claim - BOTH MY PARENTS ARE STILL ALIVE - and in case anyone doesn't remember I have a brother who will be 70 in August! So I still return to Charlotte periodically. I'm still friends with Ken and Milo (who just retired from dentistry). My friends at MP included Ken, Milo, John Davis (who went on to get an MBA from Emory), and Buddy Poole. Unfortunately most girls at MP were way out of my league so I wouldn't want to embarrass the ones who called me a friend by mentioning their names - you're welcome Marian, Kathy, and a certain woman who is helping organize our reunion and whose name starts with a J. Don't be surprised if you don't remember me. I did run with the cross country team - and no I never beat Jim M or Monroe G (except once when he was sick) and I also ran well under the radar cover. Sooo, don't feel bad if you don't remember me, we'll have a chance to reconnect at the reunion. SEE YOU THERE.

Grandparents to two beautiful girls, Victoria Scott and Amira Chouk. Have resided in God's country, Bradenton, since 1996. Attended St. Petersburg College and received degree in interior design. Went to work for a builder (La Maison) here in Bradenton and worked with homeowners for 12 years, until the housing market tanked. Guess you could say I'm retired, but I still dabble in design when the opportunity arises.

After high school, I received a BA (Political Science) about the time I married Glenda Alexander (met at UNCC), had our first child (Andi) was invited to tour Southeast Asia by the US Army. Came home, got an MBA, had my second child (Jay) and went into the casualty insurance business, first in claims, then as a consultant, then company executive for 10 years in Atlanta, came back to NC as a broker, consultant again, then broker. Survived all of that, and am now retired with 6 grandchildren, living on Lake Norman, enjoying life in general, and my wife and family in particular.

Bill and I bought a house next door to where I grew up on Portland Avenue a few years ago, so I am back where I started. I was once the youngest person on the street and now Bill and I are the oldest.
I am very thankful for all the blessings I have had through the years and one of those is the friendships of my childhood. I really look forward to our 50th!

Since I went away to school in the 10th and 11th grades, I don't know everybody nor do I think that too many will remember me.
After graduation, I went to UNC where I received both a Chem undergrad and a DDS degree. Started a group practice in Durham while living in Chapel Hill. I have been very active in the Dental profession serving in many capacities such as Chair of the Annual meeting and PAC chair. I also am the founding father and past President of my Dental Study Club. After working part time for the past 6 years, I took full retirement the first of this year.  I have been married for over 40 years with 3 wonderful children...but have NOT been blessed with any grandchildren.
I attend most Carolina football, basketball and baseball games, work out regularly, ride my bike as often as I can and play with my wonderful yellow lab. We spend much of our time at our oceanfront beach house in the Cherry Grove section of North Myrtle Beach. During the hot part of the summer we use our small mountain place near Maggie Valley.
I keep in touch with David Hanner '64. See John Elliott '65 often. Thanks to those who are putting together the 50th reunion; and am looking forward to seeing everybody.

From MPHS I went to Davidson & then UNC (BS & PhD in Math). My first job, as a math professor, was a disaster. I bailed out after 2 years and got into transportation planning for 9 years. I then got sucked up in Ronald Reagan's defense buildup and landed at Lockheed Martin in Ft. Worth, TX in 1983. My specialty was computer modeling of air combat for evaluating jet fighter designs. That was a hoot, getting paid to play war games for 24 years. In 2007 I retired and moved to CO to be closer to the ski slopes. My nickname, "Man of Danger," and hence the email address, comes from thousands of crashes on skis as a beginner. After retiring I got really into independent studies and writing in religion & theology. I have published 1 book and am working on a 2nd. I have 2 daughters, and reside with my wife Connie in New Castle, CO. Since leaving MPHS I have encountered very few Mustangs, and would love to hear from you.

I graduated from Queens along with Elise and Margaret Barnes. I had a degree in economics so I went to work for a bank in Atlanta. While at a party I ran into Chip Moon (class of '65). He was at Sewanee and we began dating. We were married in '69 and headed to DC where he was stationed at the Pentagon. Somehow we ended up in Maine and both of our sons were born there. We returned South as quickly as possible and back to Charlotte. Chip and I have been involved for years in marriage mentoring, leading marriage classes and doing premarital counseling through our church. After owning his own business selling gifts and tabletop items and traveling a lot here and abroad, Chip joined me in real estate 4 years ago. I started when my youngest went to college in '95 and love having Chip working with me now. We are at HM Properties and would also love to help anyone buy or sell their home in the Charlotte area! The loves of our lives are our two sons and 2 grandsons and a granddaughter!! And two wonderful daughter in laws. I finally got a girl in my life!!! My world smells sweeter!!! We are so blessed to have them all here in Charlotte. All my men hunt and fish so camo is the design of choice for our family! Our 10 year old grandson just shot his 5th buck last night bow hunting with Chip. When our children were young we went on beach trips with Elise and family, Janet and family, Sherry Scholtz and family and Marie Austin and family. Later some of us went out west skiing as a group. That stopped for me when my boys decided that going sport fishing tarpon fishing and hunting all over the country was more fun. Now if I want to go on a vacation I have to take my shotgun (which Chip gave me on our first anniversary) or a fishing rod! Can't wait to see y'all and catch up on what everyone has been doing these last 50 years! For those of you who have not yet signed up....do it!!! We are too old to miss a good time with old friends!!!!

Even though I won't be with you in person for the reunion, I'm still feel excited anticipation for this coming weekend.
When our journey together toward reunion weekend began, I had little memory of you all. I'm happy to say that many memory snapshots have returned.
I went for a little vacation to Northern California in 1967 and stayed. Don, my husband of 37 years and I live in Walnut Creek. Our daughter and her wife live nearby in Berkeley -- two blocks from the "Gourmet Ghetto".
I work from home as a graphic artist for a non-profit, educational and service group. Mostly I design and produce DVD and CD album covers and books. I started out before desktop computers and was thrilled and obsessed when I got my first Mac (now I'm Windows, though). Don learned programming in 1987 by writing a baseball game in Lotus Notes and is a programmer for iCohere.com.
This is a good lifetime, y'all.
